Enjoying the Resort!!!

The birds have finally come to enjoy the resort. Ang bought a bird feeder about a month ago hoping she could attract some song birds to our yard. The first one she bought broke, but the second one is finally starting to draw some attention. She has been obsessed with checking the feeder everyday to see if it was attracting any birds. Her obsession turned into a family obsession, and all four of us have been looking and HOPING some bird, any bird would enjoy our feeder. We almost had to call "Wack" for advise, but alas we have got some action.

The two larger birds are a female and male cardinal. The pictures don't do them justice. I am not sure what the small yellow ones are, but maybe Steph could help identify them!! Since the bird feeder is right outside our window, I am hoping it doesn't attract any crows or ravens.

If anyone was wondering Jen had the omelets and they were the best she has ever had. I had the rice, beans, tacos, burritos, hamburgers, hot dogs, potatoes, chicken and steak...well you get the point. I have a spread sheet listing my likes and dislikes if you want me to email it to you!!!!! (not everyone will get this joke, but everyone who came to Puerto Vallarta will)

Yes, but do you have a spread sheet listing all of your expenses for the trip, down to the last penny?

I can't wait to be enjoying the resort with you, and yes, the omlets were the best I ever had!

Next thing you know these birds will think it is a cook to order kitchen! I asked for it though... they are fun to watch come and go. The male cardinal is really skittish and I swear can hear every little move we make inside the house.

I wish I could have got better pictures, but if you double click the pictures; they look a little better.

We can't wait for you to get here Jen. I especially want you to see the freak show next door. Also, make sure you bring your passport because the Canadians allow you right into their country without a passport...but the American's treat you like a criminal on your way back!!!

Since when did you become an ornithologist? And you even know their genders? I don't even want to know... (j/k). Anyway, I'm glad you're having success with the bird feeder...and that it's not just attracting the magpies and crows!

Well, the birds are a lot of fun! I think there are different seeds that attract different birds. You might google it to see how to attract the kinds you want.

I suspect there is a Craig reference somewhere in this spead sheet thing. Please don't tell me there was a record of what people were eating!

As far as I know...there is no spread sheet on exactly what we ate, but there could be!!!

Ang definitely did some research on the bird feeder...it is specifically designed to attract cardinals...and so far it has done pretty well.

Katie made a bird feeder at school and made us hang it up. No birds ever visit it, we have had to do some little white lies and tell her we have seen birds at her feeder and that we have seen them eating. So way to go with actually getting them to eat.

Thanks for reminding me about the passport, Nate. I wouldn't even have thought about bringing it.

No my dad is the worst! he is a control freak! one day i saw the bird it was a red one so then i tell him and he tells me to go and get the camera so i do. Then when i come down he tells me to hand him the camera so i do he goes to take the picture, i am a little mad and then my mom comes and gets into it to. If my dad would have let me take it the picture would have been awesome!!!!

My daughter is calling ME a control freak!! Lex you are grounded for a month!! Like I said the birds became an obsession...hell I was two steps away from calling "Wack". I let the blog get the best of me and for this I will forever be sorry!!!

Nate -

Margel called and said, "Quit trying to control this!"

I am totally frightened that you are all sitting in different rooms of your house blogging at each other. I have to admit, it is an obsession. I haven't done anything to blog about for the past few days and I am feeling a little frantic about it.

Lex, don't let your dad bully you!

Okay...no more harrassing...I will be a good blogger dang it! You should see the birds that we are getting up at our house in Park City. Wes saw several hawks in our backyard yesterday. I would much rather see these tiny birds. I spent hours last time I was up there scrubbing the biggest bird poops I have ever seen off the driveway!
We would love to come visit you guys! When do the girls start school? We miss you guys!
Ang- we are thinking of you. Your last post made me all teary eyed. I could never do it. I am too big of a wuss!

This is bar none my favorite post! You guys are ass holes! I love it!!! As for me knowing what the little yellow birds are, it's hard to say - perhaps some sort of golden finch? I am scared that you were going to call wack! However, if you can use him in some fashion....why not! BIRD ON!

It's easy to become obsessed with the birds and other wild life. And you are right, the kind of seed attracts the kind of bird. I remember seeing cardinals in Atlanta. They are sooo pretty. Tell Jessica to put a little peanut butter on Katie's bird house. If you peanut butter it they will come. We have had fun watching a family of hawks grow up this year. As well as the the quail. My favorite is when the parents give them flying lessons off the rocks.
