Winter Wonderland or Hell!

Winter has come to Erie. Sunday night it started snowing and to our delight we got to experience our first lightening and thunder snow storm. The lightening would light up and reflect this beautiful pinkish purple hue off the snow and then the thunder would come crashing down. It went on for several hours and was absolutely mesmerizing. But when the light show stopped we realized we hate winter!

We woke up Monday and had 12 inches on the grass! Of course I didn't get around to taking a picture until today but here is the view of the backyard. It is cold and miserable and we are wondering now why we didn't choose that medical school in Cumberland Gap, Tennessee!

Liv shoveled off this little corner of the porch while Nate got stuck shoveling off the driveway by himself. He was wishing he had a snow plow until he saw the neighbor out their trying to use his snow plow without any luck because the snow was too thick and too wet.
Luckily the cardinal's, come rain or snow, are still daily visitors.

If it makes you feel any better, I just got back from taking the kids on a walk and we all wore t-shirts! I'm not sure I'm ready for snow! It sure looks pretty though!

Oh, man, I am hoping we get a warm up and can enjoy at least a couple more nice days. They do call this place dreary Erie, and I am sure it is for a good reason!

LOL, Lex you are killing me! Good point. Come on you guys, it's not like you have never seen snow before. You are from Utah.

The lightening and thunder sounds divine. I would love to have been there to see it. We had a new record high for the date yesterday. 86 degrees yesterday. I am starting to hate it!

P.S.

I recommend a nice cup of hot chocolate with peppermint snapps. It is a nice bedtime beverage that really warms you up!

We had 12 inches of snow a couple of weeks ago and then it warmed up again, so hopefully you will get some more warm weather before it just stays cold. What I'm hating most now is it getting dark at 5:30. It feels like its midnight by 7:00.

Mother, I have told you that I am getting belly fat so I do not appreciate you suggesting hot cocoa before bed! Because now I am going to want some every night. I am weak, so weak!

Lex, pipe it!!!! And I love you too.

Sugar free, baby!

Nothing in life is sugar free and if it is I don't want it!

That sounds totally awesome and I am right there with you on watching the thunder as if you had never seen it before. I still make Bradley and Katie sit and watch the storm with me. One of the simple things in life that I truly enjoy.

I've always heard that, even though they talk about lake effect snow here in Utah, you haven't seen lake effect snow until you have been to the great lakes. I think that you should anchor a yard stick somewhere in your yard and keep a running total for us. Good luck with it, and enjoy the cocoa!

Ah ha ha! I have been watching the Today Show and meant to ask you how that 2 feet of snow was. And let me correct Cindy...we got 12 inches in the Mountains. We are 65 degrees and sunny all week.

So glad it's you right now and not us...enjoy though, for the rest of us. Get some good white washing in!

I am TOTALLY jealous of you. We seriously do NOT get enough snow in Utah. I was totally pissed that our snow melted in less than 24 hours. Next time it snows here, it better stick around for a while or I'm moving to PA.

I have never heard thunder with a snow storm. Do you think that you will have a long hard winter with lots and lots of snow? What do the people there say about winters. Or are they just going to let you find out for yourselves! I love a beautiful snowstorm and all the beautiful pine trees with snow on. Just enjoy what you get, it will only be a couple of months and it will be over.

I have heard from some people that the lake effect here has to do with whether or not the lake freezes or not, so it just depends. I think when it doesn't freeze and then a cold storm comes across it, it causes a bunch of precipitation. Don't hold me to that I could be talking crazy! It is the wind that is really killing me, it just chills you to the bone and makes you not even want to dash from the door to your car!

I was talking to one of the secretary's at LECOM and she was saying that the thunder snow storms are a regular feature so at least I can look forward to that.

Well, then. I must try to come for a snow thunderstorm!
